About CUASA
Central Utah Air Sports Association (CUASA)
USHPA Chapter #282 – Serving Sevier County and Central Utah pilots
Our Mission
The Central Utah Air Sports Association (CUASA) is a nonprofit chapter of the United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (USHPA). Our mission is simple: to support safe, responsible free flight in Central Utah by maintaining flying sites, promoting pilot education, and building a strong, welcoming community.
What We Do
- Site Stewardship: CUASA members volunteer their time to maintain launches and landing zones, coordinate with land managers, and ensure safe access for all pilots.
- Safety & Mentorship: We promote a strong safety culture, encourage peer mentoring, and support new pilots as they learn the unique conditions of Monroe Peak, Cove Launch, and other local sites.
- Community: CUASA is built on friendship and cooperation. We work with local residents, schools, and businesses to highlight the value of free flight to the Sevier Valley.
- Resources: From weather stations to site guides and Telegram groups, CUASA provides pilots with up-to-date information for safe and enjoyable flying.
Our Role vs. Events
CUASA’s primary role is as a nonprofit USHPA chapter. While many flying events take place in the Sevier Valley, including world-class competitions and community fly-ins, these events may be organized by separate independent entities. CUASA’s role is limited to supporting safe flying practices and maintaining access to local sites.
Why It Matters
By joining CUASA, you help preserve world-class flying in Central Utah for generations to come. Membership dues go directly toward site maintenance, insurance compliance, and the resources that keep our mountain launches safe and open.
Disclaimer: CUASA does not own or operate vehicles or commercial services. Transportation and event operations are provided by independent contractors or partner entities.
