Come soar through the big air, breathtaking landscapes, and endless adventure at the legendary Red Rocks Fall Fly-In! Whether you’re chasing XC dreams or here to enjoy the ride, this event is perfect for all USHPA pilots from P2 to P5. With participation capped at 350 pilots (including 80 reserved spots for XRedRocks), secure your place now for an unforgettable flying experience.
The Red Rocks Fall Fly-In is one of North America’s premier free flight gatherings, drawing pilots from across the globe to the big air of Central Utah headquartered in Monroe, Utah. This six-day celebration of paragliding and hang gliding offers something for everyone—from smooth morning sledders and evening glass-offs to thermal climbs reaching altitudes up to 17,999 feet.
Schedule & Registration
- Sunday, Sept 21, 6–8 pm – Registration at the Red Barn (Monroe Canyon RV Park near Canyon View LZ). Includes Sky Out Team Challenge registration. Local pizza and beverages provided.
- Daily 8:30 am – Morning briefing at Red Barn: detailed weather, safety, and daily plan. Rides to launch coordinated here.
- Morning flights – Shuttle rides begin after briefing to accommodate sledders and soaring pilots. Morning session typically runs 11–2.
- Evening flights – Shuttle rides run 3:30–4:30 pm for glass-off conditions.
Launch & Safety
Launch Directors will be on site each day, responsible for:
- Evaluating flying and launch conditions
- Directing volunteer launch assistants
- Checking harnesses, reserves, and lines
- Recording each pilot at takeoff and confirming safe landings
A buddy system will be encouraged to report safe landings and assist if a pilot lands out. Participants may check in with any volunteer at LZ to confirm safe arrival.
Rides to launch are $20 per trip, paid directly to independent local drivers using their private vehicles. The Cove Road has recently been graded and improved, providing reliable access to Cove Launch.
New and Returning this year:
- (NEW) Sky Out Team Challenge – Now included with Fly-In registration. This fun, team-based altitude contest promotes mentorship and cooperation. Teams of 4 (with at least one newer pilot) can be formed daily. Top three teams will receive CUASA-funded prizes. Task windows are announced at the morning briefing.
- XRedRocks – Gavin McClurg and team’s elite hike-and-fly stage race attracting athletes worldwide.
